What is Reflexology?
The art of reflexology is an ancient therapy that has been practiced for over 5000 years and was introduced to the western world over 100 years ago. Reflexology is a non intrusive complementary therapy suitable for all ages. It is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.
Reflexologists believe that working these points or areas encourages the body to work more efficiently, aids relaxation and improves wellbeing. It is wonderfully relaxing and induces a deep state of calm where many drift off to sleep!
Appts. available 10:30am-7.30pm weekdays & alternate Saturdays 10am-3.00pm
What benefits may be expected?
Good health plays a vital part in our overall well-being and depends upon the fine balance of the many systems of the body. Feelings of tension, stress and anxiety can have an adverse effect on the immune system, endocrine (hormone) system and cardiovascular system which in turn may lead to stress-related illness in the body. I believe Reflexology is powerfully relaxing and offers much needed 'time-out' from today's fast pace of life.
- helps relax and calm the mind
- helps relieve stress and tension in the body
- aids sleep
- improves mood
- aids hormonal balance
- improves digestion
- imrproves circulation
- strengthens immune system
- improves overall sense of well-being
You may notice that other things improve too, but this happens on a very individual basis.
Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Before, during and after treatment
Try to eat lightly and avoid alcohol before treatment. Your first visit will include a detailed consultation where we'll talk about your past and present health and lifestyle and what you are hoping to gain from having reflexology sessions.
You'll then have an uninterrupted treatment in my comfy reclining chair lasting about fifty minutes - after this we'll talk about any observations during the treatment and I may give you some homework suggesting reflex points to work on in between treatments - I may also make suggestions for lifestyle alterations. We'll also discuss a treatment programme based around your particular needs and health concerns.
After one or two treatments, most people note an improved sense of wellbeing and experience a feeling of deep relaxation. Sometimes people report feeling tired or tearful whilst some report experiencing a mild headache or needing to go to the toilet more often following their treatment. These are normal reactions and should pass within 24-48 hours; reflexologists believe it is part of the healing process.
